In my work, I am interested in the power of memory. I try to capture and preserve a snapshot of multi-layered memories and emotions.
My process begins by me mentally going back in time and writing down the feelings, smells, sounds and for this project the minute details of the interior of my family home.
Then I try to capture these feelings in photographs or mixed media. Objects are chosen for their literal association with my own past.

Then I try to capture these feelings in photographs or mixed media. Objects are chosen for their literal association with my own past. I value objects that reflect the Japanese notion of wabi-sabi and show a history of use. This aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete”. It acknowledges these three simple realities: nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect. Lou Lou Williams is a Brooklyn-based fine art photographer. Her diverse practice includes photography, hand-written text and stitching. In her work the artist tries to capture a multi-layered snapshot of memories. The artist begins with personal writing of times past and then tries to recapture these emotions in her work. She graduated from The Columbus College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her work has been exhibited in group shows at Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition, Mad Arts Gallery and Long Island City Arts Open Gallery.
