Artist Statement : Allison Green was born in Philadelphia and grew up in a nearby rural suburb. Throughout her childhood, Green lived on the periphery of a lush forest, an experience which has greatly impacted the art she is best known for today. Currently Green resides and works in Jersey City, NJ, where she holds a studio at Elevator. Green’s work is represented by Susan Eley Fine Art in New York City, and her first solo exhibition Deeply Rooted opened in March 2011 and included an illustrated catalog with an essay by Barbara Pollack. To date, she has had five solo shows at SEFA and her work has been included in numerous group exhibitions. In addition, Green's paintings have been exhibited in PULSE NYC, Aqua Art Miami and other leading art fairs, and they are included in private collections internationally. Online and print publications featuring Green's work include VICE Creators, Hi-Fructose, Artsy Editorial and ARTnews magazine, and her work is included on the Brooklyn Museum Elizabeth Sackler Feminist Art Base online. Most recently, Green's paintings were included in the 2024 exhibitions "Peaceable Kingdom" at the Rockefeller Foundation's historic Treasure Room Gallery in New York City and "Botanica" at Galerie Lucida in Red Bank, New Jersey. Green holds a BA from the University of Maryland with a concentration in Fine Art and Women’s Studies. She also studied at Studio Art Centers International (SACI) in Florence, Italy in 1995.
